In a major relief for two-wheeler buyers, TVS Motor Company has announced that it will pass on the entire benefit of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) rate reduction to its customers. This decision follows the 56th GST Council meeting, where the government decided to slash GST on internal combustion engine (ICE) two-wheelers and scooters from 28% to 18%.

The revised prices will come into effect from September 22, 2025, making several of TVS’s popular models more affordable than ever before.
For years, two-wheeler manufacturers and industry associations had been urging the government to lower GST rates on two-wheelers, citing that they are a necessity rather than a luxury. The previous GST rate of 28% made entry-level motorcycles and scooters relatively expensive, especially for rural and middle-class buyers.

After months of deliberations, the GST Council, headed by the Union Finance Minister, finally approved a 10% GST cut on ICE two-wheelers during its 56th meeting in August 2025. The revised tax rate of 18% aims to:
- Boost affordability of two-wheelers.
- Encourage vehicle sales in urban and rural markets.
- Support the automobile industry, which has faced recent challenges due to rising fuel prices and economic slowdown.
TVS Motor’s Response to GST Reform
Soon after the announcement, TVS Motor Company, one of India’s largest two-wheeler manufacturers, became one of the first automakers to pass on the full benefit of the GST cut directly to customers.
KN Radhakrishnan, Director & CEO of TVS Motor Company, said:
“We welcome the government’s decision to reduce GST on ICE vehicles, and we are delighted to pass on 100% of the benefit to our customers. At TVS, we are committed to delivering mobility solutions that are trusted, reliable, and affordable, while ensuring an unmatched ownership experience.”

Electric Vehicle Prices Remain Unchanged:
While ICE vehicle buyers will enjoy big savings, TVS’s electric scooters — including TVS iQube, TVS Orbiter, and TVS X — will continue to retain their current prices. This is because the GST rate on electric vehicles was already lower at 5%, and no further changes were announced by the GST Council.

This GST reduction and TVS’s decision to pass on the benefit will have a significant positive impact on the two-wheeler market:
- Lower prices will make entry-level motorcycles and scooters more accessible to first-time buyers.
- Rural and semi-urban markets, where two-wheelers dominate, are expected to see higher demand.
- Customers upgrading from 100cc to premium 150cc+ motorcycles may now find value-for-money deals.
Industry analysts expect this move to boost sales volumes for TVS Motor in the upcoming festive season, especially during Navratri and Diwali.
TVS Motor is not only focusing on affordability but also on innovation and sustainability:
- Expanding its ICE two-wheeler lineup with feature-rich models.
- Accelerating its electric mobility plans through the iQube series.
- Investing in R&D to deliver improved fuel efficiency, performance, and connectivity features.
- Strengthening after-sales support and digital sales channels to enhance customer experience.
The GST rate reduction marks a turning point for India’s two-wheeler industry, and TVS Motor’s swift action to pass on the benefits reflects its customer-first approach. With prices dropping across popular models like Apache, Raider, Ntorq, Jupiter, and Ronin, buyers now have the perfect opportunity to upgrade or purchase a new two-wheeler.
The new prices will be effective from September 22, 2025, just in time for the festive season, making this the best period to buy a TVS vehicle.
