  • Electric Motor: 74.5 kW (~100 hp)
  • Range: Expected between 200 km and 250 km

  • New digital screen replacing the round cluster

  • Enhanced safety and rider-assist tech

Design & Build:

While the design is likely to retain the rugged Himalayan DNA, reports suggest that the electric version will feature revised ergonomics to accommodate the large battery pack and improve stability during off-road rides.

Royal Enfield’s Shift into EV Mobility:

Royal Enfield has long embodied rugged reliability and adventure capability. With the Him-E, the brand is exploring its electric future—rooted deeply in its heritage. As Mario Alvisi, RE’s Chief Growth Officer for EVs, puts it, the Electric Himalayan is “much more than a design concept… a guiding light for long-term sustainable travel in the Himalayas”

•Low EV motorcycle adoption: Electric two-wheelers—including scooters and bikes—still account for only about 6–7% of total sales, with motorcycles making up just 0.7–1%. Despite this, the EV bike segment is experiencing rapid growth—up 5–6× since 2021, with a projected CAGR above 70% between 2021–2025 .

Key players:

•Revolt RV400: India’s best-selling electric bike with ~150 km range.

•Ultraviolette F77: A premium performance EV, offering up to 307 km range.

•Other notable names include Matter Aera, Tork Kratos R, Hop Oxo, Oben Rorr, and Pure EV EcoDryft .

•Emerging Adventure EVs: Ultraviolette’s upcoming Concept X hints at an adventure variant, with 7–10 kWh battery, 200–250 km range, and an estimated ₹3–3.5 lakh price tag . Similarly, Ola Adventure EV, with its rugged build and off-road persona, is expected to launch between April and September 2025—priced aggressively at around ₹1.5 lakh .

How the Him-E Fits In:

•ICE benchmarks: With models like the Himalayan 450, Guerrilla 450 (Roadster of the Year 2025), Bear 650 (Scrambler of the Year), and upcoming Himalayan 750, Royal Enfield remains a dominant force in adventure motorcycling   .

•EV competition: Beyond the India-specific models, global electric adventure bikes like the Zero DSR/X, boasting instant torque and multiple ride modes, set a high bar—though they are pricier and niche .

•The Him-E’s unique position: It blends Royal Enfield’s famed adventure DNA with electric efficiency—positioned potentially as a premium offering within India’s EV adventure segment.

With the Him-E, Royal Enfield is gearing up to compete with other electric adventure motorcycles while tapping into the growing EV market in India and globally. The move signals the company’s shift toward sustainable mobility without compromising on performance and adventure capability.
