Bajaj Auto, one of India’s most trusted two-wheeler manufacturers, is preparing to take a giant step forward in the electric mobility segment by developing electric versions of its popular motorcycles, the Bajaj Boxer and Bajaj Pulsar.
While Bajaj has already marked its presence in the EV market with the Chetak electric scooter, the upcoming electric motorcycles are expected to revolutionize the way people look at affordable and performance-oriented electric bikes in India. The Indian two-wheeler market is witnessing a rapid shift towards clean mobility, thanks to stricter emission norms, government incentives, and growing consumer interest in sustainable transportation. Bajaj aims to use its strong brand value and customer loyalty to introduce electric motorcycles that carry forward the legacy of Boxer’s ruggedness and Pulsar’s sporty character while meeting modern needs of efficiency and zero emissions.
The Bajaj Boxer has always been a name associated with durability, affordability, and practicality. It has been a preferred choice in rural and semi-urban areas because of its tough build quality, excellent mileage, and low maintenance cost. The idea of an electric Boxer means Bajaj is targeting the mass commuter market, where affordability and reliability are key.
Reports suggest that the electric Boxer will be designed to deliver a riding range suitable for daily commuting, possibly between 100 to 150 kilometers on a single charge, depending on battery capacity. The motorcycle is likely to come with a simple, rugged design with minimal electronics to keep costs under control and make it appealing to customers who want a no-nonsense electric bike for daily use. Bajaj may also localize battery production and charging infrastructure partnerships to further reduce ownership costs and make the electric Boxer one of the most accessible EV motorcycles in India.
On the other hand, the Bajaj Pulsar electric motorcycle is expected to cater to the aspirational and performance-oriented youth segment. Since its launch in the early 2000s, the Pulsar brand has stood for power, style, and technology. An electric version of the Pulsar would combine sporty design with the benefits of instant torque that electric motors naturally provide.
Enthusiasts can expect sharp styling, advanced digital features, and a performance-focused motor that delivers quick acceleration while still maintaining a practical riding range. Depending on the variant, Bajaj could introduce different battery pack options for the Pulsar electric motorcycle, with ranges likely between 120 and 180 kilometers per charge.

Both the Bajaj Boxer and Pulsar electric motorcycles are expected to play a crucial role in Bajaj’s future EV strategy. India’s electric motorcycle segment is still at a nascent stage compared to electric scooters, but with rising petrol prices and government subsidies under the FAME-II scheme, demand is expected to grow rapidly in the coming years. Bajaj will likely position the electric Boxer as an affordable mass commuter bike, competing with rivals such as Revolt RV400 and upcoming Hero MotoCorp EVs, while the electric Pulsar will take on premium EV motorcycles from brands like Tork Motors, Ultraviolette, and even international players when they enter the Indian market.
Pricing will be a key factor in the success of these bikes. Bajaj is known for offering competitive prices without compromising on quality, and it is expected that the Boxer electric will be priced in the commuter-friendly range of ₹1–1.2 lakh, while the Pulsar electric could be launched in the ₹1.5–2 lakh bracket depending on features and battery capacity. If Bajaj manages to strike the right balance between affordability, performance, and practicality, these electric motorcycles could set new benchmarks in the Indian EV industry.
The move towards electric versions of iconic motorcycles like Boxer and Pulsar highlights Bajaj’s long-term commitment to sustainability and innovation. It also shows how legacy brands are evolving to stay relevant in a changing market where eco-friendly mobility solutions are no longer optional but essential.
