Maruti Suzuki Victoris vs Kia Seltos – Which Mid-Size SUV Should You Buy?

The mid-size SUV space in India is heating up, and the two latest names generating the most buzz are the Maruti Suzuki Victoris and the Kia Seltos (2025 facelift). While the Seltos has already established itself as a strong performer in the market, the newly unveiled Victoris brings fresh competition with premium features, advanced safety, hybrid powertrains, and Maruti’s extensive service network.

1. Price & Variants

Kia Seltos (2025 facelift):
The updated Seltos is priced between ₹11.13 lakh and ₹20.50 lakh (ex-showroom). With the recent GST benefits, prices have dropped by up to ₹75,000, making it a more attractive package. It offers multiple trims including HTE, HTK, HTX, GTX+, and X-Line, catering to both budget and premium buyers.

Maruti Suzuki Victoris:
The Victoris is expected to be priced around ₹10–11 lakh for the entry-level variants. It will sit above the Brezza but below the Grand Vitara in Maruti’s portfolio, making it a well-balanced choice for those seeking a mid-size SUV with premium features at a competitive price.

Verdict on Pricing:
The Victoris clearly undercuts the Seltos, especially for buyers looking for maximum features at an affordable entry price. However, the Seltos still offers a wider spread of variants for those with bigger budgets.

2. Design & Styling

Victoris:
Maruti has given the Victoris a bold stance with a wide grille, sharp LED DRLs, LED headlamps, connected LED tail lamps, and stylish alloy wheels. The SUV looks premium from all angles and sits slightly larger than Brezza for a more commanding road presence.

Seltos:

The 2025 Seltos facelift carries forward its strong road presence with the signature Tiger Nose grille, refreshed DRLs, LED lighting, and a more aggressive bumper design. The X-Line variant in matte graphite shade looks especially sporty and premium.

Design Verdict:
If you like sharp and futuristic looks, the Seltos may appeal more. The Victoris, however, brings a new-age Maruti design language with a balance of elegance and sportiness.

3. Interior & Features:

Maruti Suzuki Victoris interior highlights:

  1. 10.25-inch digital driver’s display
  2. 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment with wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay
  3. Alexa integration, OTA updates, 60+ Suzuki Connect features

  5. Panoramic sunroof
  6. 64-colour ambient lighting
  7. Ventilated front seats & 8-way power adjustable driver’s seat
  8. Gesture-controlled powered tailgate
  9. Wireless charging pad, PM 2.5 air purifier

Kia Seltos interior highlights:

  1. Dual-screen setup with digital instrument cluster and infotainment display
  2. 8-speaker Bose audio system
  3. Panoramic sunroof
  4. Ventilated front seats
  5. Wireless charging & air purifier in higher trims

4. Safety;

Victoris:

  1. 5-star Bharat NCAP rating
  2. Six airbags, ABS with EBD, ESP, TPMS standard
  3. Level-2 ADAS across variants: lane keep assist, adaptive cruise, AEB, blind spot monitoring, curve speed reduction, rear cross-traffic alert
  4. 360-degree camera with 11 views
  5. All-wheel disc brakes, electronic parking brake with auto-hold

Seltos:

  1. Six airbags, ABS, traction control, hill assist
  2. ADAS available in higher trims only
  3. Strong safety suite but not standard across the lineup

Safety Verdict:

The Victoris takes the lead here with standard ADAS across variants and a proven 5-star BNCAP rating. The Seltos is safe, but the best safety tech comes only in higher variants.

5. Engine Options & Performance

Maruti Suzuki Victoris:

  • 1.5L Petrol (103 PS, 139 Nm) – Manual / 6-speed Auto – ~21 km/l
  • 1.5L Strong Hybrid (116 PS combined) – eCVT – ~28.6 km/l
  • 1.5L CNG (87 PS, 121 Nm) – 5-speed Manual – ~27 km/kg
  • AWD option with ALLGRIP Select + terrain modes

Kia Seltos:

  • 1.5L Petrol (115 PS, 144 Nm) – Manual / CVT

  • 1.5L Diesel (116 PS, 250 Nm) – Manual / Automatic
  • No hybrid or CNG options, no AWD

Performance Verdict:
If you want power and performance, the Seltos Turbo Petrol and Diesel engines deliver stronger acceleration. But if you’re after fuel economy and lower running costs, the Victoris Hybrid and CNG options easily outperform the Seltos.

6. Mileage & Running Costs

Victoris:

  • Hybrid: up to 28.65 km/l
  • Petrol: ~21 km/l
  • CNG: ~27 km/kg

Seltos:

  • Petrol: ~15–17 km/l (real-world)
  • Diesel: ~20 km/l

Mileage Verdict:
The Victoris is hands-down the winner when it comes to fuel efficiency and long-term cost savings.

7. After-Sales & Resale Value

  • Maruti Suzuki: Known for the largest service network, lower spare part costs, and excellent resale value across India.
  • Kia: Growing network but still not as widespread as Maruti. Resale value is decent but not as strong as Maruti’s proven track record.
