Here some exciting news about the upcoming Tata Punch facelift. The updated iteration of this popular sub-compact SUV has been spotted testing on public roads.
The Tata Punch has been a strong performer since its 2021 launch, known for its bold looks, modern features, tough stance, and 5-star safety rating. The facelift aims to further enhance its appeal.
While the test vehicle was heavily camouflaged, it appears the front will retain a similar bumper-mounted headlamp cluster, potentially with new connected DRLs, vertical lamps, and a refreshed bumper. I also noticed the rear door handles on the C-pillars and familiar tail lamps, a shark fin antenna, and a sporty bumper at the back.
Overall, the exterior changes are expected to be minimal but impactful, with redesigned grille, headlights, and bumpers. The rear is particularly interesting, with a temporary makeshift tail light setup suggesting a major update with new LED units and possibly a connected design, similar to the Nexon.
Inside, the Punch facelift is expected to borrow heavily from the Punch EV, offering a new two-spoke steering wheel with an illuminated Tata logo, a free-standing 10.25-inch touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a digital driver display, 360-degree camera, wireless charging, and a revised dashboard. It’s also likely to include four disc brakes and six airbags as standard, along with features like an 8-speaker music system and ventilated seats. Existing features like the sunroof, climate control, auto headlights, rain-sensing wipers, front and rear armrests, and rear AC vents will be retained.
Under the hood, the 1.2-liter 3-cylinder petrol engine (88 PS and 115 Nm) will remain, with options for a 5-speed manual or AMT automatic gearbox. The CNG trim (73 PS and 103 Nm) is also expected to offer both manual and automatic options. Current prices range from Rs 6.13 lakh to Rs 10.20 lakh (ex-showroom), with the facelift likely to be priced slightly higher.
Given that the Punch was the best-selling car (ICE + EV) in India in 2024, keeping it updated will undoubtedly maintain excitement around the vehicle. The upcoming GST 2.0 reforms are also expected to further boost small car sales.
With increased competition, Tata Motors is working hard to keep its best-sellers up to date. In that regard, the company is testing the first ever facelift to Punch crossover SUV. There have been multiple test mule sightings ahead of a launch speculated to happen by 2025 end. New model is expected to be a significant upgrade
